I'm a paralegal by trade, but dabble in photography. I'm from the small community of Leroy, Alabama USA and enjoy capturing life through a lens. I mainly shoot sports for our local high school and the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA). My favorite sport to shoot is baseball. If you have any questions, contact me at: ldelegal@yahoo.com.

Okay, so we're half way through 2010 and I haven't posted my first self-portrait. Just so you know, I hate having my picture taken, which is why I'm always behind the camera. Another thing I hate doing is shopping ... so here you find me, sitting in the car, trying to take pictures of sparrows in the parking lot of Wal-Mart, waiting for Dave and Matt to come out.
Now you know the real me ... hello everybody!

I don't know why I get so excited when my pass comes in each year. I guess it's just a great reminder of how blessed I am. I love my hobby and am so thankful that I'm able to do this each year.

I wanted to show you some of the most beautiful weeds you've ever seen--I promise. They're easily overlooked, but the wind was blowing hard, it was overcast, and none of the pictures I took showed their true beauty. It's supposed to clear up tomorrow afternoon, so I'm going to try again then. That's why you're stuck with me--wrinkles, grey hair, double chin, and all. I hate, hate, HATE having my picture taken, which is why I'm always behind the camera. I've been trying to get better about making self portraits, but I stink at it. Some people are so clever and stage them to look wonderful, but not me.

Lazy Saturday ... well, sorta. We didn't have a ball game in our area because of Spring Break. Everyone has headed to the beach. Dave and I piddled around--he cut the grass and cleaned the cars and I painted my toenails and swang on the swing to air dry them. Well I also processed the pictures from two baseball games so I wasn't completely lazy. Hope you're having a good weekend too

Sorry ... you're stuck with me today. This is how I begin my day.

Years ago I took voice class and was told that an audience only remembers the beginning and end of your song. If you start strong and finish strong, they don’t remember the not-so-good spots in between. Well, that may work with solos, but I wonder if the same goes for blogs.

I started 2011 by making a resolution (something I don’t normally do) to unclutter my life. Sadly, that didn’t happen. I still have too much junk and stuff that I don’t need and don’t want and don’t know what to do with it. How will I finish the year? Again, maybe not so strong–maybe with another attempt to go another direction. I’ll finish by sharing a little bit more about me; something I feel compelled to do. I want to start the new year by trying to be more open about my life–both my successes and shortcomings. That may be too much information and I may pull back, but I’ll try.

I’m not a perfect person and it’s only through my walk with Christ that I find purpose. I fall so short of the mark set for me every day, but get up the next day and try again. Everything in 2011 wasn’t always sunshine and flowers. Our family went through a lot of ups and downs. There were many joys–births, marriages, love, and laughter with family and friends–and there were hurts and disappointments, some of which cut deep–causing struggles to forgive and show grace. I find it easier to forgive one who has wronged me than one who has wronged my child or a loved one. If you’re a parent, I’m sure you’ll understand. Every day is a struggle, so ... here we go. I want you to get to know the REAL me during the new year and hopefully you’ll share more of yourself too.

I'm not very good at self-portraits -- but add a baby and the whole world smiles.

I'm doing the happy dance!!

I received two wonderful gifts this week--my AHSAA pass for 2012-2013 and the 2012 FNF Alabama magazine. The pass is my open door to all high school sporting events in the state of Alabama, including playoffs and championships. It gets me on the sideline and in the press box (and gets Dave there too). The magazine gives a preview of the upcoming Alabama high school football season and guess what, four of my photos were published in it this year! One of my photos even made the table of contents page. Yippee! Of course, you have to look really hard under the photographer listing to see my tiny name--the only woman I might add--but it's there! Dave gets excited about college football and I get excited about high school football. These are little reminders of how blessed we are.
