I know a lot of people don't like cats, but I do. I like their independence. As Rudyard Kipling's story reminds us, they walk by themselves.
Lazy Cat
Puff got a haircut.
Matt brought a kitten home from the school. He's such a cutie and so very sweet--a real lap cat. Matt named him Fenway and wanted us to keep him, but we know our limits. Three cats and three dogs is a full house. He was going to sneak him to a friend, so we took care of him through the week. When the time came for delivery, we ran into a grandma who asked if she could have him. Yay! He'll have a great home and I won't have another vet bill.
Bobb (Big Ole Black Boy) is the cat who walks by himself. He is very skiddish, but loves summer because I sit on the porch and he can approach me for a little lovin' on his own terms.
I was so tired today that I forgot to take a photo. Puff missed us terribly, so he posed nicely for me.
BG tangled up in the vacuum cleaner cord--I couldn't have asked for a more appropriate photo to begin my new year.

I've been thinking about resolutions and plans for the new year. I usually don't make resolutions, but figured my resolution from 2010 was successful, so why not try another. So I resolved to untangle my life from the clutter and things that aren't needed--to simplify my life and give away, sell, or throw out anything that isn't used or necessary--to unclutter and untangle my life. Perhaps BG's photo-op is a good omen.
Today wasn't a good day for pictures ... well, it just wasn't a good day. When I got home, I found my new Linksys router and figured I'd tackle the installation and then run outside to get a picture before the sun set. But I didn't anticipate a simple installation would take 3-1/2 hours and leave me emotionally exhausted and frustrated in the end. As it turned out, my wireless hardware had gone bad--not my modem and not my router. At 10:30 p.m., as I sat staring blankly at the television, Puff came and sat on the arm of the chair staring blankly at me. Thus, Puff is once again the POD.
We have four dogs (Sugar, Ellie, Mollie and Baebay) and three cats (Puff, BG and BOBB). I've introduced you to two of our cats, Puff and BG. Now meet BOBB (Big Ole Black Boy). His former owner called him Bijou, but when he took up under our porch, we named him BOBB. He is a very proud cat and is slow to warm up to anyone. He reminds me of Bagheera, the black panther from the Jungle Book.

"Everybody knew Bagheera, and nobody cared to cross his path; for he was as cunning as Tabaqui, as bold as the wild buffalo, and as reckless as the wounded elephant. But he had a voice as soft as wild honey dripping from a tree, and a skin softer than down."
~ Rudyard Kipling, The Jungle Book
