The cotton gins keep getting closer to this field. I'm thinking this white fluffy softness will be gone tomorrow. So here is one last look at the cotton fields of Leroy. Until next year ...

We got home in time to visit the cotton fields. They are white and ready for harvest. Really beautiful. I know the farmers will be working hard to pull them in while we have good weather, so I'm sharing a couple pictures just in case the picker beats me to the punch in the next day or two.
I lucked up and found a female green lynx spider guarding her egg sac. Pretty icky looking. Sad to say they may not survive the harvest.
I went back to the cotton fields on a mission to find a green lynx spider. Seems that every time I go, I unexpectedly find a spider of some type. But today, no matter how hard I looked, no spider could be found. As I began to leave, I saw what appeared to be a white little feather floating around. Turns out it was this dragon-fly looking creature--pink, white, and black--about a half inch long. It's not a spider, but it is an unexpected find.
I'm sure you've been sitting on the edge of your seat, pacing back and forth, biting your nails, wondering how the cotton fields are doing. We'll I'm glad to report that the bolls appear full. It looks to be a very good cotton season. Yay for the farmers!!
