We went out to eat with friends tonight. As we were going into the restaurant, I moaned, "I haven't taken a picture for the day. Let me find something. Y'all go in and I'll meet you." They went on in and I found some daylilies.
Each year my friend, Pat, brings in daylilies from her garden for my birthday. I was out of the office last week, so she brought in a beautiful surprise today--one maroon and two black daylilies. Since they're such a wonderful treat, I wanted to capture their beauty outside the office, but the trip home was difficult and they began to wilt and droop in the hot car. I tried to revive them with a sprinkle of water, but my efforts were in vain. They soon shriveled and died. Thanks for my sweet gift of joy for a day, Pat.
I thought today would be relaxing--church, work out, nap--but it has been busy, busy, busy. I've been helping the AHSAA photographers get the programs ready for next week's baseball and softball championships. I lucked up and saw these daylilies on the side of the road as I was running around (aren't you lucky). I'm looking forward to next week; it's going to be great--baseball, baseball, and more baseball--and it's my birthday week too. If you love baseball, stop by; I'll be giving you a wildflower reprieve!
Pat's not the only one who can grow beautiful daylilles. I found this one in a ditch on the side of the road. It was just opening, welcoming the morning.
This is my friend, Pat. This is the same friend I told you about who blesses me with daylilies on my birthday. Today she brought in some spectacular daylilies from her garden to share with the office. They were gorgeous. They were originally planted at her mother-in-law's house in Mississippi and she helped dig them up and replant them at her house in Mobile. Each day holds a beautiful surprise for her.
