Our church was busy, busy tonight. Our "Holiday Extravaganza" (my name for it) featuring Amanda and Georgiann on the dueling pianos. Amanda also played the flute, electric keyboard, and organ and they were accompanied by Amanda's daughter on the violin. This kicks off our holiday season. Can you believe it's almost Christmas?
Leroy, Alabama
A quiet place.
This is the old Leroy Post Office. It is my understanding that the postal service in Leroy was established in the 1880s in the home of T.C. Bowling, the son of Capt. Robert Leroy Bowling. With the establishment of the post office, the community of Leroy was born. The duties of postmaster were handed down to descendants of T.C. Bowling for about 100 years. This post office and general store was used by the community until the 1980s. The descendants of T.C. Bowling continue to preserve this historical landmark and I'm thankful they do.
Can you guess what this is?

We're going through a drought in South Alabama and are already 15 inches below normal. I can't remember the last time we had rain and normally it's the reverse. This is a freshly planted field of cotton; the tracks you see are turtle tracks. They're on the move looking for water. I drove to the other side of the field, but didn't see the tracks come out. I'm hoping the turtles didn't die from the heat.

I know ... you're getting tired of texture, but I'm tired of the same-old-same-old. I need variety. I have a friend who claims to be a "purist" when it comes to photography ... I say, "Blah, blah, blah." Ha ha, just kidding {wink, wink}.

The bunny weeds are multiplying like ... rabbits. :) I've never seen them carpet the fields like they have this year. It reminds me of the lavender fields in Provence. This one's for you, Richard.

You can tell that spring is around the corner in South Alabama. It's cool at night (in the 30s) and warm in the day (upper 60s), which makes fog a sure thing in the morning. It was a perfect day. I even drove home with the sun roof open.
