More roses, but these are domestic--I think.
I am sincerely blessed with a wonderful husband. He knows my heart and brings me pick-me-ups when things aren't so perfect. An early Valentines gift to brighten my evening. Thank you, My Beloved.

I went to the old Magnolia Cemetery in search of the Confederate Rose. I never found it, but these roses and the setting sunlight made me smile just the same.

Tonight was the one night of the year I always dread--tax night. The night I have to gather all of our receipts and income statements for our accountant. I hate tax season. I was in a bad mood all day just thinking about it. When I got home (before beginning the dreaded project), I decided I would photograph the dead roses given to me by my beloved on Valentines Day.

To be honest, the roses were a sad bunch of flowers that he picked up from Wal-Mart at the last minute. I'm not much for mushy things, so that was no big deal. It's the thought that counts, right? I told him thank you for the sweet remembrance, especially since I had not gotten him anything. Anyway, as I'm hauling my pitiful bunch of dried, dead flowers out to the yard to photograph (because I have terrible light inside the house), I noticed the reason why they looked so sad--three of the stems were broken and taped with Scotch tape! The texture in this picture covers up the tape, but can you believe that! LOL! I told him I discovered his dirty little secret and we had a good laugh. I'm so thankful a bunch of taped up dead flowers and a loving husband lightened my dreadful day. I hope you had a good Monday too.

The Cherokee Roses are in full bloom in South Alabama. Do you have them in your area? Here they grow wild. Sometimes they carpet the ground and at other times they actually climb to the tops of the tallest pine trees, making a wall of white flowers from bottom to top. But just like the other wild roses, they don't last long.
This rose bush was given to me by a friend when my father died in 2006. I'm always surprised when it survives another year because I definitely don't have a green thumb.
