There isn't a lot of autumn color in South Alabama, but every once in a while you come across a smattering of popcorn trees that brighten the green-brown drab.

This is perhaps the only glimpse of autumn colors you'll find in South Alabama for the next several weeks. You know, I've never eaten a persimmon. I've heard they're tasty sweet, but they look a little too mealy for me.

I waited all season for the peanuts to be turned, but didn't make it to the field before they were picked up. I snapped this small unpicked patch on the way into work this morning. It's always so hard to photograph using backlighting, but I hope this gives you a glimpse into peanut picking in South Alabama.
