In the weeks preceding Ash Wednesday, Mardi Gras madness takes over Mobile. The preparations begin shortly after the year begins. First come the rows of port-a-lets, next the aluminum barricades, and then the viewing stands. You know it's finally here when RV City sets up under the I-10 Exit. Thousands of revelers park their RVs here and in the auditorium parking lot and spend the next few weeks attending the festivities: parades, balls, and tailgating. "Throw me some Moon Pies, mister!"
